Bollards are designed as per client requirement to give the proper function. Bollard is a short vertical post, and typically bollard is found where large ships dock. To obstruct the passage of motor vehicles, bollards are arranged in a line.

To avoid loose of docklines / mooring warps, usually mooring bollards will have a larger diameter near the top. Single bollards will sometimes include a cross rod to allow the mooring to be bent into a figure eight.
